Climb For Clean Air

  July 8 - 9, 2004
I was on the Summit of Mt Rainier!

WAAAAHOOOOO

Equipment and Other Needs

In addition to training and raising (at least!) $4,000, I also need to acquire a significant amount of gear. The list of clothing alone can be quite intimidating -- but it's the cost that are staggering! And, although renting is an option, that creates coordination headaches for training.

So, if you can loan (for June and July) or donate any of the following, PLEASE let me know!! There are several novice hikers on this climb, so ALL equipment will be greatly appreciated and will go to an excellent purpose. (ps. Yes, this qualifies for a charitable donation and you will receive a receipt.)

Seeking New and Gently Used Gear

Amazed by the effort that it takes to acquire the necessary equipment, I realized that I could really help future climbers. So, I'm investing a little more time now and creating an equipment pool. This way, future climbers can focus more of their time and energy on raising donations!! What great way to put gently used equipment to a good use!!

Backpack --  preferably with an internal frame and a minimum of 6,000 cubic inches;
Waterproof & windproof overmittens;
Waterproof and wind proof jacket (with hood) and pants;
Gaiters;
Gloves, liners, socks ...  including gortex overmits
Glacier glasses with side protection (PLEASE!);
Headlamp;
Plastic hiking boots
Crampons;
Weather proof pack cover;
Water bottles;
Silk, wool or polypropylene socks, shirts and long johns;
Compass;
Whistle; (used for emergencies!!)
Expanding ski poles;
Ice axe;
Sleeping bag rated to freezing (32 F);
Emergency blanket;
An AWESOME digital camera?!!!

This is not an exhaustive list. Check your closets and cupboards. Plus, everyone needs great hiking food!!!

Many of these items provide EXCELLENT opportunities for corporate sponsorship ...  Your logo will be prominently displayed ...  great publicity ...

PLEASE ... get involved!   Do it NOW! :-)

In-Kind and Gift Certificates

In addition to Equipment, there are unlimited opportunities to donate goods and services, especially gift certificates. These can be auctioned or raffled and the proceeds donated to the ALAW!!

Although cash is the currency that talks, your gift certificates can be leveraged and result in valuable donations!
Don't have a gift certificate ... not a problem!  I would be delighted to design a special certificate for you!!!   PLEASE, join the team!

Whaaa hoooo

 After two short (that is a relative term) hikes, I realized how easy it would be to become "hooked" on hiking. There is an amazing sense of accomplishment when returning from a hike carrying a 30 pound pack!
WOW ... that was ME!  I did it and I feel great!!!

Whatever your motivation for sponsoring this climb,
 it is the right reason for YOU!
